77年前的3/17 白崇禧來台「止痛療傷」了嗎？

1947年3月17日，國防部長白崇禧以宣慰名義，帶著蔣經國等一行飛抵台灣。白先勇稱其父此行為係為受重創的台灣人民「止痛療傷」。實情果真如此？怎還會有在嘉義火車站前，分三日將人槍決示眾。
1947年3月28日，美國駐台領事布雷克（Ralph J. Blake）致南京美國大使館的電報，提到軍隊開抵台灣台灣後，台灣人停止公開的行動，但「白將軍的訪問迄今為止並沒有對基本情況有任何顯著改善」，白崇禧公開集中「支持陳儀政府」，仍持續逮捕抓人，「並有證據表明持續進行處決」。連美國人都探悉的事情，身為在台最高軍政官員、來台巡按的白崇禧是無力阻止？一無所悉？還是充耳不聞？電報最後還提到，基隆港仍清理出新的屍體（fresh bodies）。
“Arrival of troops resulted in cessation overt action by Formosansbut General Pais visit has not so far contributed to any noticable betterment of basic situation. Pais efforts publicly concentrated on supporting Chen Yi administration and urging manlanders remain Taiwan. Seizures still being made and evience points to continued executions. Fresh bodies still being removed from Keelung harbor….”
